Tiki are large wooden or stone figures in humanoid form that guard entrances to sacred sites and were often represented in the style of the tropical islands of the South Pacific, starting in the late 1930s. The painting reflects a summer dream of a mysterious remote island, hot sunshine, beautiful botanicals and Tiki cocktails.
